Mr L. Deans Ritchie has returned to Dunedin from Auckland, whore he attended the meeting of the Senate of the University of New Zealand. Dr John Mackenzie, of Toorak, Mel-' bourne, will leave Dunedin to-day with Mrs Mackenzie and their daughter on a visit to Athol.

Messrs S. Robb, I, M'Narey, and J. Tannock, three Dunedin horticultural students, have left for two weeks’ study in the Hollyford and Routeburn districts.

Mr T. O’Eyrne, M.L.C., returned to Invercargill from Wellington by the express on Saturday afternoon. Captain E. Mathe, marine superintendent of the Nord-Deutscher Line, is at present visiting New Zealand. Mr T. C. Drumm, of the Palmerston North branch of the Public Trust Office, has been transferred to Dunedin. His successor will be Mr R. Menneer, of Gisborne.

Mr A. J. Haub, who has been a patient in the Frankton Hospital, Queenstown, since Boxing Day, returned to his home in Dunedin yesterday. Mr Harold L. Baildon, who has been district agent for the Mutual Life and Citizens’ Assurance Company, Ltd., at Gisborne for the past two years, has received notice of his transfer to the position of assistant superintendent in the Dunedin office of the company. Mr C. J. M'Kenzie, engineer-in-chief of the Public Works Department, who was seriously ill in hospital at Greymouth, was reported to-night to be much improved. He was taken ill in South Westland last Tuesday, and was taken by air to Hokitika.

Mr H. B. Gaze, of Hamilton, has been elected a Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society, London, for general photographic work, including portraiture and figure studies.

Mr T. C. A. Hislop, Mayor of Wellington, has been reappointed a member of the Board of Health for three years a« from October 1 last year. The Rev. C. L. Mountford, vicar of Temuka, has been appointed by the Bishop of Christchurch to take the place of thp Rev. E. C. W. Powell, vicar of Sydenham, who has resigned.

Mr L. J. Stevens (Palmerston North), Mr J. Stewart. Mr C. Moore (Blenheim), and Mies A. Morton (Christchurch) arrived in Dunedin at 12.31 p.m. on Saturday by the Union Air—ays machine Karoro, and the Koromiko left for the north at 11.30 a.m, with Miss M. Abra and Mr G. Reid for Christchurch, and Mr Stronach Paterson for Wellington. Messrs E. V. West (Palmerston North), C. Gill and A. Wareham (Blenheim) and N. M'Rae (Christchurch) arrived in Dunedin at 12.45 p.mf. yesterday by the Kotuku. The Karoro, which left here at 11.30 a.m. for Palmerston North, had as passengers Mr I. R. Miller for Christchurch and Mr A. M. Taylor for Wellington.
