Whangarei has a local example of a climbing up the golden stairs. It is a flight of steps leading from the Parua Bay road up to the steep cliff face to serve residences in “ The Bluff.” In a letter to the Borough Council the other night Mr John Main pointed out that, with age, wear and heavy rains, the steps wore now dangerously in disrepair. He suggested their elimination and substitution by a graded path from Dundas road, towards which he would be prepared to contribute. On the suggestion of the Mayor, the engineer was instructed to table a report.
