FERRY PASSENGER’S MISHAP PROMPT RESCUE EFFECTED (Special to Daily Times) AUCKLAND, January 14. A prompt rescue was effected by the mate of the ferry steamer Takapuna when a middle-aged man, after disembarking from the ferry at the Bayswater Wharf, slipped on the wet surface and fell into the harbour. Although he suffered from shock and cramp, the man was not injured and went home after being examined by a doctor. The ferry was berthing, when the accident occurred, and there was little space between it and the wharf. The man, who fell about 15 feet to the water, was fortunate not to he crushed. He was wearing an overcoat, and quickly reappeared on the surface. His fall was heard by the mate, who was able to drag him on board without difficulty. Shock and cramp in the legs resulted in Iho man being temporarily unable to walk. He was carried ashore and placed in a motor car in which he was taken to a doctor.
