CITY POLICE COURT
Tuesday, January 14. (Before Mr J. R. Bartholomew, S.M.) DRUNKENNESS. On a charge of drunkenness, Richard Healey, a statutory first offender, was fined 12 S 6d, in default 24 hours’ imprisonment. ATTEMPTED MURDER CHARGE. Cecily Fitzmaurico appeared on remand on a charge of attempting, at Oaroaru on September 10, to murder Nancy Eileen Fitzmaurice. —Senior Sergeant Packer asked for a remand toOamaru until January 21 when, he said, the case would probably be gone on with. —The remand was granted. ALLEGED THEFT. Clarence Wilson John Shaw, alias Shore, alias Bovey, wa s charged with, on May 16 at Lawrence, and between then and August 14, receiving sums totalling £3 14 s on terms which required him to account for or pay the money to W. A. Scott and Sons, and, failing to_ do so, thereby committing theft. —Detective Sergeant Hall, who asked for a remand until January 20, said that the accused’s solicitor was still out of town, and it was understood that further charges would be preferred.—The remand was granted. BREACH OF PROHIBITION ORDER.
Victor Percy Nayler _ pfbaded guilty to a breach of a prohibition order. —Senior Sergeant Packer gqid the defendant had been found in the street very intoxicated. —Nayler stated that he had been in bad health for some time and had yielded to temptation during the holidays. He was very sorry he had broken the terms of his order. —The magistrate said the defendant should realise that he should not drink at all. He would be fined 10s and costs (3e), in default 24 hours’ imprisonment.
