BITTEN BY A SPIDER SYDNEY, January 12. (Received Jan. 12, at 7.15 p.m ) While working in his garden, Mr Samuel Roberts, aged 50, was bitten on the hand by a trapdoor spider which suddenly sprang at him. After Mr Roberts had knocked the spider from his hand it turned to make another attack but he managed to kill it. Mr Roberts soon became very ill and was admitted to hospital in a critical condition. CAR SWEPT INTO CREEK TWO MEN DROWNED SYDNEY, January 12. (Received Jan. 12, at 8 p.m.) Two men, W. H. Philp and J A Philp, were drowned when their sedan ear was swept by flood waters from th.-> causeway on the road between Young and Wallendbecn into a flooded creek Thc car was carried a quarter of a mile down the creek. Following a cloudburst the water was four and a-half feet deep on the causeway when the car attempted to cross.
