LEGION OF FRONTIERSMEN

Members of R Squadron, Legion of Frontiersmen, gathered in the Toe H rooms on Saturday evening to celebrate the squadron’s third birthday. Colonel G. H. Mitchell presided, and in addition to visiting frontiersmen, representatives of sister organisations were present as guests of the squadron. A lengthy toast list, which included the toast of “The Nine Thousand,” was honoured, and during the evening the opportunity was taken to present to Colonel Mitchell an easy chair, which had been given by a supporter of the legion as a mark of the commanding officer’s services to the squadron. Yesterday morning the squadron paraded at the Mornington tram terminus and marched to St. Mary’s Church, where the squadron chaplain (the Rev. F. V. Fisher) preached a sermon appropriate to the occasion.
