TWO CENTURIES

M.C.C.’S FIRST INNINGS RECORD AGAINST QUEENSLAND (United Press Association) (Bijs Electric Telegraph—Copyright) BRISBANE, December 2. (Received Dec. 3, at 1.45 a.m.) In the M.C.C. match Langridge and Lyttelton soon settled down to steady scoring, the latter impressing with leg and cover shots. The partnership was worth 69, and then both went quickly, but Griffiths and Sims troubled the bowlers, taking the total past the record innings against Queensland, beating Arthur Gilligan’s 522 in 1924. The failure of the Queenslanders in the second innings was attributed more to consistently good bowling than to their earlier timidity. Baxter, a good # type of fast-medium bowler, did exceptionally well. Sims had a fine length, but was unlucky, bad fielding losing wickets. Levy was aggressive and most entertaining, but had three lives before his wicket fell. B'ollowing are the scores:— QUEENSLAND. First innihgs .. .. 203 Second Innings.
