Mr F. W. Mitchell left Dunedin yesterday morning on a visit to Wellington. Mr G. R. Ritchie was a passenger by yesterday’s express for the north, en route to Wellington. Mr W. A. Plavell left Dunedin by yesterday’s early express for the north, en route to Wellington, MfH. F. Marshall, who, with his wife, has been on an extended visit to England and Australia, has returned to Dunedin. Advice has been received from New York that Mr James Hudson, of Dunedin, who left England on October 17, will arrive at Auckland on December 27 by the Mariposa. Mr J. A. Hanan, M.L.C., chancellor of the New Zealand University, left Dunedin yesterday morning for Wellington to attend a meeting of the Rhodes Selection Committee., Mr J. Wallace, seed certifying officer for the Department of Agriculture, was a passenger for the north by the express yesterday on his way to Palmerston North. A Press Association cablegram from London states that Sir Alexander HoreRuthven, who was recently appointed Governor-General of Australia, has been created a G.C.M.G. Members of the new Parliament who left Dunedin by yesterday’s early express for the north, en route to Wellington, were:—Messrs J. W. Munro (Dunedin North), F. Jones (Dunedin South), P. Neilson (Dunedin Central), Dr D. G. M'Millan (Dunedin West), Messrs A. Campbell (Chalmers), W. C. Denham (Invercargill), and the Rev. A. H. Nordmeyer (Oamaru). Mr H. D. Vickery, chairman of the New Zealand Broadcasting Board, Mr H. Q. Livingstone, a member of the board, and Mr E. C. Hands, the general manager, are visiting Dunedin, and were present last night at the official opening of the new 4YA transmitter. Mr C. Clibborn, secretary of the Lyttelton Harbour Board, who has been on a business visit to Australia, returned by the Marama, which arrived at Bluff on Sunday evening from Melbourne, Mr Clibborn visited the Eglinton Valley yesterday with Mr W. A. Ott, chairman of the Bluff Harbour Board. Mr E. J. Riches, New Zealand member of the economic section of the International Labour Office, who is visiting New Zealand on furlough, arrived in Dunedin last evening. Mr Riches, who is accompanied by his wife, is taking the opportunity to gather information on industrial subjects for the International Labour Office during his visits to the main centres of the Dominion. He is staying at the Excelsior Hotel, and will leave Dunedin on Friday. The wedding took place quietly in Auckland yesterday morning (says a Press Association telegram) of .Mr W. G. Wohlmann, Commissioner of Police, and Miss Christine Laura Stone, of Auckland. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. E. D. Patchett at the Epsom Methodist Church at an early hour.
