WOMEN'S DIVISION N.Z. FARMERS' UNION.

Reports of meetings oi branches are requested, but they should be furnished' promptly, for the publication of reports that are not supplied within a week from the date of the meeting cannot be assured.

The Momona branch of the Women's Division of the Farmers' Union held its final meeting on Thursday. Mrs J. A. M'Donald presided. Miss A. Costellp gave an account of "Educational Week." Mrs Drake also spoke on several topics of the W.D.F.U. A email "bring and buy sale" and progressive eucljre and dance was held to augment the funds of the branch.

On Friday afternoon, at the Anglican Hall, the Alexandra branch of the Women's Division held a successful sale on behalf of the Montecillo disabled soldiers. . In the evening the branch held its last meeting for the year. Mrs Timmings, the president, spoke with regret of the departure of two members, MrsCowie and Mrs Stewart._ The sale was continued in the evening.

Mrs 'Frew occupied the chair at the meeting of the Enfield branch. A motion of condolence was passed with Mrs G. Taylor and relatives in their bereavement. It was decided to hold a euchre tournament and dance in December in aid of the Health Camp Campaign and Blind Institute. The same night there will be a stall of wares from the Blind Institute for sale. Miss Barnett, of Oamaru, gave a demonstration of how to make useful presents out of suede and leather, and on the motion of Mrs Anderson was accorded a vote of thanks. The president then asked'Miss Hopkinson to accept a small token from the members. The competitions were won by the following:—Best blooms, Miss Hopkinson and Mrs Frew (equal); plate of' toffee, Mrs M'Cone; advertisement, Miss Yuill and Mrs Anderson. ,

At the West Taieri branch final meeting for. 1935, Mrs A. Grant gave an account of the last executive meeting. A large table held a display of hand-made articles from the Montecillo Rest Home, and goods to the value of £4 17s were sold during, the evening. Then followed a social gathering of the members of the Farmers' Union, Young Farmers' Club, and the Women's Division. This opened with a community sing, and dancing with items interspersed took up the rest of •the evening. The supper was provided by the members of the Farmers' Union, who, with the help of the young farmers, did all the work connected with it.

The upper Waitaki branch held its final meeting for the year in the Kurow Sunday School Hall on November 23. The president (Mrs Adams) presided. The roll call for senior members was "A Baking Hint." The juniors' roll catt was " Should girls under 16 go to dances? The senior competition was a Christmas novelty to cost not more than 2s 6d. Mrs Jackson and Mrs Collins were first (equal). Mrs Collins was second, and Mesdames Shaw and Wilson were third (equal). In the junior competition, "An article made from an ounce of wool," Misses I. M'Aughtrie and Betty Shanks were first (equal). Mesdames Campbell, Shanks, and Shaw gave a play reading, and the junior girls (Misses J. Shaw, B. Shanks, I. M'Aughtrie, S. Small, D. Jackson, and R. M'Aughtrie) gave a humorous play reading, "The Highlander." Members of the Farmers' Union and Young Farmers' Club joined the ladies when the supper was served.. The hostesses were Mesdames Cleave, A. M'Caw, and T. Cairns.
