THE SEA LION
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—-As a warning to others I should like to point out to parents of small children the desirability of giving a wide' berth to the sea lion now disporting itself in the vicinity of St. Clair beach. . Yesterday a small boy of three was pounced on by this animal, and but for the promptitude of its adult attendants might have been seriously bitten or mauled. As it was, the child's overcoat was considerably torn, and many teeth marks are visible in the cloth. The sea lion- also lunged at the mother of the child. Perhaps the animal had been previously provoked to some extent by boys teasing it. but it would appear that if the authorities desire to use the " pet" sea lion as an added attraction to this seaside resort, it would be better placed in an enclosure of some sort before more serious damage is done.—l am, etc., Once Bitten.
