UNEMPLOYMENT RELIEF
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —The attitude of some of the unemployed is almost unbelievable. When no work was to be had, the National Government, by taxation, raised money to give the single man 15s and married man 30s for a 40-hour week, less insurance. The Government has now raised this amount by 2s 6d per week and is going to pay the insurance, thus leaving the money clear. Some of the men say " vote catching," but I do not think the men who are at the head of affairs would do such a thing to catch votes. The camps have been supplied with free copies of the daily papers; for this some men are grateful and some others only say, "Well, they ohould; th«y h»T«
plenty of money." The National Government has given enough money to keep men from starvation until they can get work, and it is very hard to understand why these men should oppose the Government. My own wish is that the Government is again returned with a good majority.—l am, etc., Unemployed. November 13.
