EMPIRE GAMES OF 1938 SYDNEY, November 5. (Received Nov. 6, at 1 a.m.)
The announcement that the British Empire Games would be held in Sydney in 1938 has created a stir of great pleasure in sporting and athletic circles in all parts of Australia. Mr E. S. Marks, chairman of the Australian British Empire Games Committee, expressed delight at the " wonderful news." He said he felt sure that the games would be conducted equally as well here as in any other part of the Empire. There was no doubt Australia and New Zealand would provide bigger teams, which to some extent would compensate for the smaller teams which must be expected from distant parts of the Empire. Mr Marks added that a meeting of the full Board of Control would be held in Sydney shortly to draw up the programme and regulations for .submission to the Empire Conference which will be held in Berlin in 1936.
