FARM IMPLEMENTS
ASSISTING THE PURCHASER EXTENSION OF SUBSIDY SCHEME (Per United Press Association) ... NEW PLYMOUTH, November 5. An, announcement was made by the Minister of Employment, Mr S. G. Smith, that the Government scheme for a subsidy on the purchase of modern farm implements will be extended by four months. ■■' " The operations of the. scheme, which was introduced in June last, have recently been reviewed, and it is found to be working smoothly," said the. Minister. "As a. result; .the building, sheet metal, engineering and dairy machinery industries, have been considerably stimulated, with a consequent, increase in employment. The board has, therefore, decided to extend the scheme from December 31 to include works commenced by April 30 next in order to encourage dairy factories and dairy farmers to anticipate as far as possible their needs for. extensions and improvements to their properties. This will enable the supplying industries to retain in employment many men whose services would otherwise be dispensed with during the slack period of the year."
