V.u accused • i s found guilty last week - f stealing a ring valued at £SO and also with stealing £5 in connection with a scheme to ransom the ring. The jury' * made a strong recommendation tp mercy. Mr Sullivan, for the accused, said that the girl was to be married this coming month and asked for probation. “ I have given the case careful consider ition and have arrived unhesitatingly at the decision that it is a ca ■ for probation,” said Mr Justice Callan. “I did not know before that she intended to get married.”
