A MILITARY FUNERAL

SOUTH AFRICAN CRICKETER FIVE HUNDRED WREATHS JOHANNESBURG, November 3. Five thousand persons attended the military funeral accorded to Cameron, There were 500 wreaths. A salute was fired and the bagpipes played a lament. Leading members of all branches of sport attended. Cameron, who was 30 years of age, played for Transvaal, and he had many outstanding performances to his credit as a batsman in Currie Cup matches. He was recognised as one of the world’s greatest wicketkeepers, and as a batsman was a real dasher, as he further indicated during the last test series with England. In the first test, he entered the dO’s, he made 90 in ttie second test, and put together big scores in quick time in the other games. He was a highly popular cricketer in every sense of the word. The wreaths included those from Generals Hertzog and Smuts, Holmes’s team in Australia, and the Australians who are cn route to South Africa.
