BALCLUTHA Cricket ' ‘ In the ".AT Grade match between Balclutha and Gwaka, played at Balclutha on Saturday,-Gwaka was all out for 56, the* top score being made by Brownlie (20).- Bowling, Frengley took five for 10,. Gi?est»four for 16. Balclutha won easily, with eight wickets down .for. 122 runs. The best scores were made by Cockerill (24), Frengley (17, retired), Keach. (15, not out), A. Stewart (15), Guest- (14), and I; Stewart (13). Bowling, -M'Lelland took'three for 34. -High: School, drew, with. Kaitangata B in. a, good scoring game, played on the School. ground. School declared with seven wickets down for 301; Plew made theHorrscore of 114, Gormack.sß, Green 49. TUcbardson took two wickets for 73 arid Blackburn three for 47. Kaitangata B replied ' with 249 for six wickets (Keach 70, Grimshaw 58, Hale 40-riot out)^; Bowling, Green took five Waihola defeated Balclutha B, playing at Waihola. Waihola made 65 in the first innings, and hacP, five wickets down for 75 in the second, while Balclutha made 33 in the first innings and 98-in the second. In the match Milton A v. Kaitangata A, played on the Kaitangata ground, Milton made 140, and drew with Kaitangata, SO for five wickets. Timely Gift Mr P. Shacklock, of Dunedin, has, generously 'given a , handsome electric range to the South Otago High School for iise in the new cookery room, now almost completed. The range will supply a long-felt want at the school, as in the past the housecraft department has been handicapped.by being confined to a sis months’ course of practical cooking lessons, at the did Technical School. A Fine Trout '••• A. particularly good specimen of river trout was caught by Mr F. J. Anderson, of Balclutha, while fishing in the Koau branch of the Molyneux Hf-er. It weighed 6Jib, and. was beautifully proportioned. and in excellent condition. Mr Anderson was. using a short American casting rod amongst a' growth of willow roots when he Jiooked the fish, which he landed after a stiff fight. Street Corner Collision Shortly after noon yesterday a collision occurred:at the corner of Elizabeth and Clyde streets between a Ford, truck driven by-Mr Finlay Dow and Austin car driven by Mr Rutherford, of Mosriel. The latter was proceeding south along Clyde street, and the truck came out from .the side street. The Austin was overturned, but, fortunately. Hie driver (Mr Rutherford) and his companion (Mr Stephens) managed to crawl out unhurt. The car, however, was badly smashed, the wheels on one side and the wind-screen being broken. The truck was undamaged.
