WAITATI FATALITY
MOTORIST CHARGED A REMAND GRANTED A further remand till November 8 was granted by Mr H. W. Bundle, S.M., in the Police Court yesterday when Leslie Raymond West appeared to answer charges of causing the death of William Eric Johnstone while intoxicated in charge of a motor-car near Waitati on" October 20, and driving without a licence. 1 Chief Detective Young asked for a further remand. He presumed the inquest v.Ould be taken in conjunction with the Icaring of the charges, and the hearing was likely to be a lengthy one. He asked for a remand, till next Friday, when a .suitable'-.day .for the bearing of the charges" could be arranged.' Mr C. J. L. White, who appeared for Weßt, agreed to the remand. He asked for bail, which was fixed at £2OO. West was prohibited from driving a motor vehicle while on remand.
