THE NEW ZEALAND ALLIANCE

DEBT LIQUIDATION At last night's meeting of the Orago United Temperance Reform Council the president, the Rev. John Pringle, announced that he had received most important information, that the debt which for some time hod clogged the activities of the alliance hod been completely liquidated. The council carried the following resolutions with the singing of the doxology: " That this council expresses its deep thankfulness and heartily congratulates the alliance upon the attainment of such a desirable result." " That to mark its returned buoyancy the New Zealand Alliance be urged to institute immediately a Dominion-wide campaign for the strictest enforcement of the closing provisions of the Licensing Act, which are being so flagrantly flouted by the liquor traffic, specially concentrating on ' 6 o'clock closing and the after hours sale of liquor to motorists.'
