THE PRESBYTERY AND THE BIBLE IN SCHOOLS
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —May I correct cne or two inaccuracies in your report of the Dunedin Presbytery s dealing with the Bible-in-bchools question? With reference to the Hawkes Bay system, the question at issue is whether the lessons given by ministers should be within school hours or not. The following resolution was carried:—'ln view of the fact that what is obtained byi the Hawke's Bay by-law is already operating in effect wherever the Nelson system obtains, the presbytery inform the Oamaru Presbytery that, in its opinion, there would be no sufficient advantage to be gained by its adoption at the present time." With reference to the Wanganui system, the presbytery did not reject this, but agreed that, in view of the approaching meeting of the assembly, the matter should be deferred.—l am, etc., J. Douglas Smith, Clerk of Presbytery. Dunedin, October 30. [Our report seems to have paraphrased the decisions of the presbytery.—Ed. O.D.T.] .'.-.••:
