WAITATI CLUB An enthusiastic gathering attended the opening of the Waitati Lawn lennis Club’s new court last Wednesday. Although the weather did not permit of any play, an enjoyable afternoon was spent in the schoolroom. The president (Mr B. Beasley) welcomed the guests and thanked all who had participated in the construction of the court, and especially Mr E. Ritchie, Mr M. Hoff, and Mr E. Stevens. Mr P. Briscoe spoke of the value ot sports such as lawn tennis, and congratulated the officials and committee on laying down one of the best courts in the district. Mr Stevens briefly endorsed the remarks of the previous speakers, following which the ceremony of playing the first ball over the net was performed by Mrs B. Beasley. NEW TENNIS BALL FOR 1036. A startling improvement has been made in the life of the modern tennis ball. A new close and tough untrinnned nap gives double efficient playing life. The only ball made with this new process is the 1936 Dunlop Fort Tennis Ball —adopted by the N.Z. Lawn .Tennis Association for all matches under its auspices for the 1935-36 season. Ask your sports dealer to show vou the wonderful Dunlop Fort.— Advt.
