ENGLAND TO AUSTRALIA THE FLIGHT STARTED (United Press Association) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) LONDON,. October 23. (Received Oct. 24, at 1 aan) Sir Charles Kingsford Hmith departed at 7 a.m. There was a large crowd of friends to see him off, including Scott, Melrose, and Broadbent. Overnight reports were for bad weatbe;- in the Medi terranean. Sir Charles said: "The chill on Sunday gave me a shake up, but I am now feeling fit and think I shall be all right." He is making for Maiseilles, thence to Cairo, and it is nnderrtood that he hopes to reach Australia in three days and demonstrate the practicability of a fast air mail service wit] a full pay load.
