THE SHIP AUCKLAND
ASSOCIATION'S ANNUAL MEETING
The annual meeting of the Ship Auckland .Association was held in the Otago Early Settlers' Hall on Monday evening last, when, in spite of the cold and wet evening, close on 30 members were present, most of whom were passengers on the 1874, 1875, or the 1879 voyage of the Auckland from Glasgow to Port Chalmers.
Mr R. 11. Bagshaw, chairman of the 1934 Reunion Committee, presided. A long discussion took place over the arrangements for this year's annual reunion, which is to be held on October 20 and 27, thus coinciding with the anniversary of the arrival of the ship Auckland at Port Chalmers on October 27, 1875. On the motion of Messrs T. M. Gillies and D. Torrance it was decided that this year's reunion should be arranged the same as for last year's reunion—a gathering in the afternoon on Saturday, October 2(5, with a social and dance in the evening, and a church parade to the evening service at First Church on the Sunday.
The following committee was elected: — Messrs R. M'Kinloy (chairman). T. Begg (lion, secretary), T. Gillies, J. 11. Ford, A. Murray, A. Poole, J. and R. C. Torrance, ,7. H. Brown, R. H. Bagshaw, Mcsdames Gillies, Mitchell, Arnold, Poole, Campbell, Misses Bagshaw and Lnnn.
Before the close of the meeting it was unanimously decided to record the appreciation of the members of the association of the work of the honorary secretary. Mr T. Begg, in arranging with the committees for the success of the annual reunions.
