More than 14,000 people witnessed the greatest upset of the tennis year when Allison defeated Perry, 7 —5, 6—3, 6—3. Wood defeated Grant, 6—2, 4—o, 12— 10, 6—2. PERRY INJURED BY FALL FOREST HILLS, September 11. (Received Sept. 12, at 7 p.m.) After the match Perry said he tore a ligament in the groin when he fell during the seventh game of the first set, and it was disclosed by a examination that he jarred the right kidney loose from its attachments. There was swelling at the front of and behind the injured member. They strapped his side with tape preliminary, to an X-ray examination. "It is nothing serious," the doctors said.
