WOMAN SPY'S CONFESSION FRENCH COURT MARTIALBREST, September 11. Mile. Lydia Oswald, aged 29, born in Switzerland, a fascinating blonde and self-confessed spy, appeared before a naval court martial to-day in one of the most sensational espionage trials for years with her lover, Lieutenant Jean de Forceville, and a fellow officer, Lieutenant Rene Guignard. All charges involved important national defence secrets. The story unfolded behind locked doors showed how Mile. Oswald attempted to enmesh a young French naval officer and how instead he stole her heart. It also showed how she deliberately turned the tables on the foreign Power employing her. Judgment was reserved. ' A TERM OF IMPRISONMENT BREST, September 11. Mile. Lydia Oswald was sentenced to nine months' imprisonment. The two naval officers were acquitted. Mile. Oswald paid a tribute to the gallantry of the French officers. She said she came to Brest to spy, but their nobility and chivalry made her change her plans.
