THE GENIUS OF BACH
CHORAL SOCIETY'S PRESENTATION
Music has no creed or nationality. It is the one universal language that permits the interchange of thoughts and emotions tar beyond the power of words to describe. J n all parte of the world honour is being offered this year to the memory of that great genius Bach. The works of some composers require a knowledge of music before they can be understood, but not so with Bach. In the main Town Hall on September 23 the public will have the opportunity of hearing some of the most attractive of Bach's works. Dr Gal way will be at the organ, and the Choral Society, under Mr Alfred Walmeley, will sing "In Praise of Bach," »i particularly attractive choral work. An oboe solo by Mr Rofab will be an unusual item. Mr Bullock and Misa Audibert, of Christchurch, will both sing several songs. The Dunedin public have shown their appreciation of Miss Audibert's artistry, and will, no doubt, welcome the opportunity of hearing her again. The work of Miss Ethel Wallace requires no introduction, her item being the first movement of the E major concerto. The work for three pianos will be played by Misses Winifred Gardner, Mary Frazer, and Mr Max Scherek. None of the items is long, and it is a pi'ogramme that anyone should enjoy.
