PORT CHALMERS NEWS

ANGLICAN CHURCH The annual sale and bazaar organised by the Ladies' Guild of the Port Chalmers Anglican Church was opened yesterday, afternoon in the Town Hall. The guild had' produced a very attractive display, all the stalls being well arranged and carrying large stocks of goods. The sale was opened by the 'Mayor (Mr T. Scollay), .who congratulated the members of the guild on their excellent work on behalf of the church. The vicar (the Rev. A. B. Pywell) also congratulated the guild on its work. The stallholders were:—Produce — Mesdames Ward, Fletcher, Laley and Mr E. Laley; Ladies' Guild—Mesdames Hudson, Thompson and Pywell; cake—Mesdames Styche, Miller, Campbell and Elson; sweets-r-Mesdames Wilkin, Nash and Miss H. Ward; flower, Mesdames G; Throp and Honeybone; Girls' Club. Mrs Brown and assistants; Sunday school, Mrs T. Armstrong and assistants; Christmas tree, Misses Halliwell and Abernethy; tea rooms—Mesdames Forsyth, Jenks and Peryer. The large attendance last evening enjoyed the entertainment given by children under the direction of Mrs A. Brown. The sale will be continued this afternoon and evening.
