ADDRESS-IN-REPLY

PROGRESS OF DEBATE BIG LIST OF SPEAKERS (From Our Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, September 9. When the "House of Representatives resumes to-morrow afternoon the Addresa-in-Reply debate, which has already occupied about a week, will be continued. Particular interest will attach to the resumption of the debate, for the first speaker will be Mr T. H. M'Combs, the new Labour member for Lyttelton, who will.be making his maiden speech. Mr M'Combs was to have spoken before the adjournment on Friday, and Mrs M'Combs waited attentively in the gallery, but Mr A. Harris spoke right up to 5.30, when Mr M'Combs had to be content with moving the adjournment. The debate is expected to last, for the whole of this week at least, as there art 17 Labour speakers to vent their opinions, besides Independent members and probably a good many Government speakers. So far there have been 13 speakers —seven from the Government, including the mover and the seconder, five Labour and one Independent.
