JUMBLE SALE

NORTH-EAST VALLEY SCHOOL On Thursday afternoon and evening a very successful jumble sale was held' by the North-East Valley School for the purpose of augmenting the committee’s funds. The parents responded generously, both in supplying the stalls with goods and in their patronage at the sale. In the evening a short programme by the school pupils provided a pleasing interlude. An interesting feature of the function was the competitive display of school work entered into by every child of the school. The penmanship, brushwork, drawing, and handwork earned definite commendation from the many parents who viewed the display. The many artisticallyfinished household articles made by the senior boys at the North Dunedin Manual School, under the guidance of Mr Wakelin, were favourably commented upon. The following is the prize list of the school competitions:— Form Ila.—Writing: V. Harvey 1, D. Jtaeer 2. Drawing: Design—N. Wright Cadman 2, R. Alcorn 3; instrudrawing—L. Mowat L I. Hall 2, 3.
