WOMEN’S HOCKEY

EXECUTIVE MEETING The following were present at the executive meeting of the Otago Women’s Hockey Association on Monday evening: Misses Hill (in the chair), Lorimer, Lee, Wilson, Adams, and Mrs Sonntag. Mr J. Martyu, manager of the team which visited Palmerston last Saturday, submitted a report.—lt was decided to write and thank the Eastern Districts clubs for their hospitality. It was decided to close the Third Grade competition, Brighton being declared the winner.

It was resolved to hold u knock-out seven-a-side tournament this year. Advice was received that Miss Ada Mackie (vice-captain of the New Zealand Women’s hockey team would reach Dunedin by the express on Wednesday afternoon, and arrangements have been made for a mayoral reception at the station. The selectors submitted the following teams:

Otago v. North Otago, at Oamaru, on Saturday.—A. Grade; D. Brosnan, K. Wilson, R. Burt, M. Stevenson. K. Angell, I. Palmer, I. Lee, R. Cumberbeach. A. Thomas. E. Kydd, M, Stevens; emergencies, P. Sturgeon and W. Duncan. B Grade: M. Bowler, R. Mathais, C. Summerville, P. Lymburn (captain), N. Oliver, N. Smith. 0. Brown, G. M’Corniack, M. Weddell, G. Williams, S M'Stay. These teams will leave by bus at 10.45 a.m. from Queen’s Gardens, with Mr J. Martyu as manager. B Grade team v. West Taieri, at Outram, on Saturday.—J. Bissett, L. Hunter, G. Scott, V. White; A. Whittaker. A. Ives, M. Cursey, V. Fraser, D. Irving, D. Henderson (captain), A. Thomson; emergencies, C. Ross and B. Moore. The bus will leave Queen’s Gardens at 2 p.m. Otago v. Central Otago, at Roxburgh, on August 23. —D. Wells. R. Morton, M. Pedlow, E. Ellis. M. Fisher, M. Blagdon, L. M’Neur, N. Graham, E. Sonntag (captain). M. Stevens, E. Kidd, and A Thomas (emergency). Miss R. Wilson will be the manageress and Mr L. Ireland coach. The bug will leave Queen’s Gardens at 7.30 a.m. on August 28. Practices will be held at the Caledonian Ground to-night and to-morrow night at 5.15.
