TO-DAY’S FOOTBALL

RUGBY The public will have an opportunity of seeing two very interesting games at Carisbrook to-day, and the results will have considerable bearing on the premiership. The match between University A and Pirates is causing more than ordinary interest. Pirates have been playing particularly well recently and are confident of extending the University. The presence of Fookes in the University team will no doubt add interest to the game. As a curtain-raiser the Southern will meet Zingari-Richmond. This will be’ the last opportunity the public will have of, seeing J. Hore in action before his departure with the All Blacks. At the Caledonian Ground Union will meet Kaikorai. Dunedin will meet Alhambra at Tahuna Park, and Mosgiel residents should see a good game between University B and Taieri on the local ground. Official guides will be on sale as usual. ASSOCIATION The principal attraction in the Fletcher Cup series of matches to-day will be the meeting of Mosgiel and High School Old Boys at Logan Park. Mosgiel is only one point behind the leaders (Maori Hill) on the league table, and has been showing very consistent form in recent games. High School has displayed a greatly improved standard since the start of the second round, its most recent success being in sharing the points with Maori Hill. Both teams are well matched and comprise several young players with football ability. A win to Mosgiel will place this team in the position of contesting the premiership with Maori Hill. The present leaders in the competition, Maori Hill, will meet Seacliff on the latter’s ground, the other games being Northern v. Roslyn-Wakari at Prospect Park and Mornington v. Technical, at Mornington. The Second Division match Northern v. Maori Hill, will be played at Logan Park No. 2 ground, and not the Oval, mentioned in yesterday’s issue.
