FORESTERS
The fortnightly meeting of Court Woodlands Pride was held on Monday last. Sister I. Faulkes, chief ranger, occupied the chair. The report given by the woodwards indicated that all sisters on the sick list had been visited during the fortnight and were progressing .favourably. The secretary was directed to send invitations to four Druid lodges for a social on July 29, and also to invite four other Druid lodges for the meeting on August 12. The senior beadle, Sister E. Ward, who will return shortly to her home in Cromwell, resigned her office. The vacancy was filled by the promotion of the junior beadle, Sister M. Marshall. Sister J. Cameron was elected to the position of junior beadle. The two officers were installed into their respective chairs by the district beadle. The chief ranger, assisted by her officers, initiated a new member into the court, the ceremony being carried out in the usual impressive manner. The court’s half-yearly balance sheet was presented, and it disclosed that the court held a very strong position in the United Otago District. A letter from the United Otago Friendly Societies’ Council was read intimating that the annual church parade and church service would be held on August 4 at Knox Church. The chief ranger closed the court early in order to allow members to visit Court St. Andrew and take part in the old time dance.
