HOMEWARD BOUND
MR LYONS LEAVES VANCOUVER VANCOUVER, Jaly 17. (Received July 18, at 5.5 p.m.) Mr J. A. Lyons sailed by the Niagara after a three hours' stay in Vancouver, during which he wa'S welcomed by the Premier (Mr Pattullo), members of the Vancouver Board of Trade, the Mayor (Mr M'Greer), and representatives of the Canadian Manufacturers' Association. He told all frankly that Australia cannot continue the present status, under which she buys £3 worth for every £1 purchased by Canada. " Buy more from us, so that we can buy more from you," he said. Trade representatives admitted the logic of his case. The Daily Province states: "The delegation left him drenched with the opinion that Canada should buy more from Australia. He is the most astute statesman who ever put across a sales argument for Australia."
The Vancouver Sun states:" "Mr Lyons has made the name of Australia ring where it onlv tinkled before."
Of Mr Bennett, Mr Lyons said he had received every courtesy and a frank conference.
