THE DUEL CHALLENGE
OFFER OF A SUBSTITUTE CAPTAIN FANELLI DECLINES LONDON, July 17. Captain Fanelli, in declining MiDickinson as a substitute for Major Attlee, wrote: "Your letter confirms my conviction regarding English subjects whom Labour principles have, not made rotten." A previous message stated: Captain Fanelli has received from Mr. Edward Dickinson, of London, a challenge to n duel with Mr Dickinson, who wishes to take Major Attlee's place. In a letter to Captain Fanelli, Mr Dickinson says: "As a duel is evidently your idea of satisfaction, I trust you will allow an Englishman jealous of his country's history and traditions to take up the challenge. I trust you will speedily reply, enabling suitable arrangements to be made." Captain Fanelli is at present out of Rome. His friends say he is unlikely to accept as his quarrel is with Major Attlee.
