ROSLYN RATEPAYERS
MEETING OF ASSOCIATION The Roslyn-Kaikorai Ratepayers' Association held its meeting last night. Mr P. L. Ritchie was in the chair, and there were also present Messrs W. J. Bell, D. Findlay, D. M'Connell, J. Paterson, E. Sunderland, W. Thompson, and A. D. Sutherland. The chairman stated that the widening of the Kaikorai Valley road was still being held up, owing principally to the belated determination of some of the recipients of compensation carrying dissension almost to breaking point. However, it was hoped that matters concerning this improvement would be commenced soon. Ii was decided to request that improvements be made to Eraser's Bush road beyond the baths by the application of screenings to the present clay surface, and to Melrose street, where the dark corners and bad angles made extra lighting essential. It was also stated that repairs were required to the washed-out culvert in Mardale street, at the corner of Shetland stieet On the request of a deputation, it was decided to endeavour to have a rubbish tip opened for the convenience of builders, shopkeepers, and others. Tbe chairman remarked that, despite the recent heavy rains, the drainage works executed by the council in past years had stood the strain remarkably well, and no wash-outs were noticeable.
It was decided to thank the council for the draining of the children's playing areas, asked for last April, the widening of Lawson street, the levelling work in the Robin Hood area, and the fcerbing of the south side of Taieri road from Oates street to Walton street.
