WRESTLING
MATCH DECLARED OFF LAST-MINUTE DEMAND REFUSED (Per United Press Association) PALMERSTON NORTH, June 25. A wrestling bout between Pereira and Kruskamp scheduled for to-night has been declared off because the Manawatu Wrestling Association was unable to agree to a last-minute demand by the wrestlers, whereupon the wrestlers intimated that the match was off. The association, which is disappointed at "letting down" the public, will meet tomorrow evening to decide what action, if any, shall be taken to meet the position. WADE BEATS BLOMFIELD (Per United Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 25. The wrestling contest between "Lofty" Blomfield, of Auckland, and Glen Wade, of America, to-night was utterly devoid of showmanship, being hard wrestling all the way, though only one fall was recorded, that going to Wade in the sixth round. Following a series of headloek throws, Blomfield attempted to pick up his opponent preparatory to a slam. The pair were right up against the ropes, and Wade pushed himself and his opponent off violently. Blomfield fell underneath, and was slightly dazed, the American having no difficulty in securing a fall with a body press.
