Seaton (South Canterbury). HAWKE’S BAY DEFEATS BUSH THIRTY-FOUR POINTS TO SIXTEEN. (Per United Press Association) NAPIER, May 30. An a preliminary to next week’s All Black trial, Hawke’s Bay to-day defeated Bush by 34 points to 16. At half time the score favoured Hawke’s Bay by 26 points to 6. Bay scored with surprising rapidity in the first half when it had the assistance of a fairly strong breeze, and frequently started off movements in its own twenty-five which ended with tries. Bush rallied towards the end of the sped and scored two unconverted tries. The story was different in the second half when Bush, winning a good proportion of the scrums and line outs, kept Bay in check, and more often than not was ou the attack. The Scorers for Bay were Apsey (3), Tremewan (2), Le Quesne, Hannigan, and Donovan (tries), and Bradley (five conversions). For Bust! Harvey, Mitchell, Harris and M'Sherrcy scored tries and R. Mills converted one.
