DUNEDIN PLAYBOX CLUB
"AUTUMN FIRE" A second performance was given of "Autumn Fire" last evening by members of the Dunedin Playbox Club under the direction of Mr Walter Russell-Wood. The production was, staged in Mr RiissellWood's studio in Jamieson's Buildings, and considering the handicaps under which it was produced, it was a credit to everyone concerned. "Autumn Fire" is, not an eas v y play to present particularly on a restricted stage, but ahe cast of eight acquits itself very well in the circumstances, and Mr Russell-Wood is to be congratulated on the manner and completeness of production under very real difficulties. The principal roles are taken by Miss Mollie O'Sullivan as Ellen Iveegan, Mr Frank Lanyon as Owen Keegam, and Nell Warren as Nance. All three give a good account of themselves in far from easy parts. Miss O'Sullivan's study is one of special intensity and warmth and Miss Warren provides a most effective contrast to the dour, sourvisaged Ellen. Mr Lanyon is responsible for some very good drama and improves as the play progresses. Others taking part in the production are Miss Mina Anderson, Mr Leo Manning, Mr John Green, and Miss Molly Hurley. The production will be repeated this evening.
