[jgifesjls&i^gg ONE-PIECE WELDED ALL-STEEL BODY The Ford electrically welded all-steel body, with steel floor, is the strongest, safest type of body construction known. The body is made of heavy gauge steel, reinforced with steel. Roof battens are also of steel and butt welded to the rest of the body. One piece from roof to floor provides a maximum of safety for the Ford owner. WELDED ONE-PIECE STEEL SPOKE WHEELS The Ford steel spoke wheel is electrically welded into one piece of steel where others may be made from fifty or more loose parts. In actual test a Ford welded steel wheel will support a 12-ton load without fracture. No other car except the Lincoln has these one-piece welded steel wheels. Air balloon tyres with a 6-inch road tread are further factors of stability and safety. DOUBLE CHANNEL X-BRACED FRAME X members are continued the full length of the frame channels, thus doubly reinforcing the frame sides and forming a box construction. Where the Ford X members are connected in the centre of the frame, there is a deep box member of welded construction. The centre portion of the frame, which supports passenger weight, is further strengthened by a cross member which welds the entire structure into a rigid substantial unit. TORQUE TUBE AND RADIUS ROD DRIVE Jy an improved suspension of time-proved transverse springs, the springbase and the length of the front spring have been greatly increased.. Spring hangers are part of the radius rod construction which adds stability and means safety. Radius rods and torque tube take all driving and braking stresses and maintain axles in perfect alignment under any road conditions—triangular radius rod bracing front and rear is the safest, strongest bracing known. SAFE FRONT AXLE Transverse springs, proved in 30 years of service, are the only springs being installed on any car that give free action on all four wheels with the added safety of a rigid front axle. Radius rods, front axles, and central fixing of the transverse springs form a solid basis of safety so necessary in the high speed cars of to-day. ir J 3 :i:iria:i:<ii^i mmm m New brake design employs self-centering shoes which will require only light pedal pressure to utilise all of the 186 square inches of brake surface—--6.8 square inches for every IOOIbs of car weight. Brake drums have extra ribs for cooling. All brakes controlled by positive steel rods. The radius rods and solid front axle keep brakes in perfect alignment —an important safety feature. FORD SAFETY SURROUNDS YOU! These are but a few of the safety features which have always been fundamental principles of Ford design. There are many others— The V 8 engine, safe because of its power allows the housing to carry the load Clear view ventilation, provides controlled ventilation without obstruction to driver and passengers Cross steering to give easier and more positive control —and so on right throughout the entire car—Safety has been a first consideration. It is important and satisfying to know that you are driving the safest car you can buy. V 8 Fordor—£3l3. ¥8 CcHipe-£282. WOWLB MOTOR! Touring Fordor—£349. i LTD* Corner Manor Place and Hope Street.
