THE HARBOUR BOARD ELECTION
TO THE EDITOR Sir, —The circulation of statements that superannuated men should not be candidates for election to harbour boards is liable to create the wrong impression in the minds of electors—that a superannuated man is paid his pension by the Harbour Board. It is only fair to stale that a retired official pays his contribution to a fund established with insurance companies, and that on his retirement all payments by the, Harbour Board cense. The policy of other public bodies does not enter into the arrangements made by harbour boards throughout New Zealand. T hope that electors will tnke notice and give credit to Mr Robertson where credit is due.— l am, etc,, Observer. May 6.
