THE WEATHER
There was a continuation of cold and wintry weather yesterday. Heavy showera fell at intervals, and a strong southwest wind prevailed. The, temperature at 8 a.m. was 42 degrees, and the maximum for the day was 48 degrees. Th barometer rose slowly, and the reading at a late hour last night was 29.85 in. / CONDITIONS IN THE NORTH. (Special to Daily Times) AUCKLAND, May 0. Fine sunny weather prevailed _ to-day, but a fresh southerly wind which was blowing made the conditions very cold in the shade, the temperature being 60 degrees at mid-day. The barometer has been rising slowly, and now registers 29 75in WELLINGTON, May 6. The day was dull and cold in Wellington, with occasional showers and a fresh southerly wind. The temperature at 4 p.m. was 49.9 degrees. CHRISTCHURCH, May 6. The weather to-day was wet and cold, with snow on the Port Hills and a moderate south-west wind. The maximum temperature was 50 degrees. The barometer is rising slowly, and now reads 29.90 in.
