BLOW AT BOWLER HATS

A blow at the bowler hat has been struck by the Moslems of Southern Jugoslavia. Bowlers, caps, and other kinds of " Western" headgear must go, they say, and be replaced by the fez. Moslem women, too, should hide their charme under thick cloaks and behind the traditional veil, and not take to the "immodest" fashions of their infidel sisters. To this end the Ulma Medjlis in a Skoplje, the chief council of the Moslem faith in this district, has issued a decree that all Moslem officials "must wear the fez" This decree is regarded as merely the first step in a campaign against the change in fashions which have for some years now spread into Jugoslavia from Kemalist Turkey."
