TRAGEDY NEAR TITRI MOTOR CYCLIST KILLED Randall Freeman, a married maju with one child, who resided at 7 Graham street. Dunedin, was killed in a motor collision near Titri op Saturday afternoon. Mr and Mrs Thomson, of Cromwell, were driving south near Titri on the Main road, and, when near a corner, they observed a motor-cycle coming towards them. The cycle swerved to avoid the car, but skidded on the shingle, throwing;,the rider against the car. Death was instantaneous. The deceased was in the employment of Messrs M'Cracken and Walls. An inquest was opened at Milton yesterday afternoon, before Mr A. E. Stewart, acting coroner, and after evidence of identification had been given by Ireland Harris, an orchard manager, of Outram, who was the brother-in-law of the deceased, the proceedings were adjourned. KILLED BY FALLING TREE FATALITY AT GREENFIELD. Advice >was received by the police, on Saturday that Hector Francis Sydney Stevens was killed while working in a plantation at Greenfield on Saturday morning. He was employed at the Greenfield sawmill, and was working with a companion when at 11.15 a.m. the strong wind uprooted a tree, which fell across him, causing his death. He was 32 years of age. and was married, with one child. The body was removed to Balclutha. where an inquest will be held. PEDESTRIAN INJURED At 6.40 on Saturday evening Henry Guthrie, residing at 55 Maitland street, was admitted to the hospital suffering from head injiu-ies. Guthrie was crossing Princes street near Manor Place when he was struck by a car driven by John A. Bradley. of 11 Coughtrey street, St. Clair. SLIGHT CONCUSSION Leo Schmelz, 20 years of age, suffered "slight concussion when playing for the Dunedin First Grade team at Logan Park on Saturday afternoon. He was admitted to the hospital at 5.20 p.m. The, injured man resides at 22 Aotea street. , . FOOTBALLER INJURED Allan Thomson, single, aged 16 years, was admitted to the Hospital at 3.30 p.m. on Saturday suffering from injuries to the groin, received when playing football with the Southern Fifth Grade team on the Oval. He resides at 28 Gamma street, Roslyn. , PILLION RIDER, INJURED John Robinson, aged 23 years, suffered head injuries on Saturday afternoon as the result of a collision between a motor cycle, on which he was a pillion rider, and a motor car at the corner of Bay View road and Surrey street. He was admitted to the Hospital for treatment. The injured man resides at 163 Bay View road. CYCLIST INJURED A youth named Allen Caley received slight cuts on Saturday afternoon as a result of a fall from his bicycle in King street. He swerved to avoid a pedestrian and ran into the channel. He was treated in the out-patients' department of the Hospital. FINDING OF REMAINS VERDICT OF ACCIDENTAL DROWNING. (Special to Daily Times) KjUROW. May 4. The. remains found at Waikaura on Thursday last were identified by Mr M. H. Lilburne. of the Waitaki Hydro works (a former hut-mate) as those of George Roy aged 25 years, single, who lost his life at the works on August 31, 1934. l At an inquest at which Mr J. M'Phail, J.P., acted as coroner, and Messrs A. H. Chapman, jun., E. Middletou, A. Dunstan, and D. Small as jurymen, a verdict was returned that the deceased met his death by drowning through accidentally falling into the Waitaki River.

A previous message from Kurow stated that while out duck-shooting a party found a human skleton 12 miles from Kurow at a point on the river opposite Waikaura.

SHOT THROUGH THE HEAD YOUNG MAN'S TRAGIC DEATH. (Per United Press Association!) HASTINGS, May 4. A young man named Cedric Woodfield was killed by a shot from a gun which was accidentally discharged in a whare in Jervois street last night. The deceased, who lived at 610 Queen street, was at the itime at the home of Arthur John Walker with two other young men. They were in the whare discussing stalking, Walker having been out on April 21 last, when he took the rifle which discharged the fatal shot. It is. evident that the rifle when brought home was left loaded. Another rifle was also in the room, and it appears that the two weapons were being handled in the course of what may have been a little skylarking. Walker picked up the rifle from ■ the corner of the ropm where it had been left, and while handling it the weapon discharged, shooting the deceased through the head. FOOTBALLER'S DEATH INJURED IN HEAVY TACKLE.(Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 5. After receiving injuries while playing in a Third Grade Rugby football match at Wakefield Park yesterday, Lindsay J. Watson, aged 21, died in the Lewisham Hospital this morning. Watson, who was playing for the University team, appeared to receive a heavy blo.w, causing internal injuries, when he was tackled from the side. He was bleeding internally and a kidney was injured. Watson was a popular law student at Victoria College. He received his early educate at Te Aute College.
