TO THE EDITOR , i Sib,—Mr Savage a few days ago called attention to the fact that Mr Forbes had stated that "if Great Fritain is at war New'Zealand is also by her ; side," or words .to that effect. T would like- to ask ; Mr Savage if . Japan attacked us whose protecting arm and power would we expect to- help us,? Of course, Al the Labour leader admitted we were bound up with the Commonwealth of Nations which embraces our Empire, but,'Sir;, is this sort of lip service good enough for the majority of New Zealandersf.Lthink not, or, rather, I am certaini it is not. Sometimes I have it would be good for New Zealand to hsvea taste of a Labour Government such ; as; Australia has had. Personally, I would hot object if it was a loyal Labour Government, but,' with members of that *arty such as some whom I could mention I ask you, Is it possible?
