PROSPECTS FOR TO-DAY
(Special to Daily Times.) HASTINGS, May's. » As rain has fallen at Hastings during the last 24 hours, the going will be on the dead side for the second day ot the Hawke's Bay Jockey Club s meeting. Royal Lineage ie giving away lots of weight to an inferior class in the Karamu Hurdles, and, as he,has not raced for a considerable time, a -well-seasoned opponent like Diamond may give him a lot of trouble. . , Royal Feast is very well just now, and won decisively last Saturday, but in the Tomoana Handicap he will meet Royal Mimic and Unexpected on much worse The Lowry stable have Plato and Kotou engaged in the Juvenile Handicap, and the better of the pair may beat Lacquer. Bisr Dook registered a good performance in Saturday's Hawke's Bay Cup, but Sunny Sky, too, went well, and she may reverse positions in the Jubilee Handicap to-morrow. Neither Speed nor Gainsfid had a good passage, and, as they were close up at the finish, they are entitled to respect, but Sunny Sky appeals most. Alby and Quaint both ran well over a short course on Saturday, but figure as acceptors for the Akitio Handicap (nine furlongs). King's Lancer was undoubtedly unlucky on Saturday, and should run well here. Queen's Pride may, be dangerous. Hatuma, who put up\a good performance to win at Waipukurau on Easter Monday, did not run on Saturday, but is engaged in the Twyford Handicap, and should again run well. Passion Flower (who carried 2Jlb overweight when she won last Saturday) must again be respected, as her performance was a solid one. If more judiciously handled than was the case on Saturday, Sunny Maid would be a possibility. As R. Reed may ride Coronilla in the Okawa Handicap, she must again be dangerous, but in the class engaged Souchong should not lack support.
