Women’s Singles. —Third round: Mrs Whittingstall beat Senorita Lieana 6—3, 4 — o ; o — 4, Miss Stammers beat Mrs Hopman 6—4, 6 —3. Women’s Doubles.—Mrs Pittman and Miss Yorke beat Mrs Hopman and Miss Ford 6 —4, 6—2. Mixed Doubles. —Second round: Prenn and Miss Dearman beat Peters and Mrs Peters 7 —5, 6 —4. THE AUSTRALIAN TEAM LONDON, May 1. The Australian lawn tennis players arrived at Bournemouth. The only persons to welcome them at the station were Lawn Tennis Association officials and Andrews, of the New Zealand team. Andrews told the Australian Press Association that Stedman and Malfroy will play in the Singles against Australia, but the Doubles pair had not been chosen. Andrews has recovered from his sprained ankle. The New Zealand team is being coached in. London. The Australians will go to Eastbourne on May 1 to practise for the Davis Cup tie.
