Y.W.C.A.
BOARD OF DIRECTORS. The monthly meeting of'the Board of Directors of the Y.W.C.A., which was well attended, was presided over by Mrs C. M. Begg. It was reported that proceeds of the finance campaign totalled £425 to date, and it was decided to call a further meeting of the committees concerned after Easter. It was reported that Miss Minter had asked to be relieved of her duties by April 23 instead of at the end of the month. Among the correspondence received was the resignation of Miss Phyllis Hindle, activities' secretary, who asked to be relieved of her duties if possible in order to accept the position of general secretary in Palmerston North by May I.—This was received with great regret, and after some discussion it was decided to endeavour to effect an immediate exchange and invite Miss Catherine Ashton to the position of activities' secretary. The general secretary's report showed a resumption of most winter programme activities, which, together with the finance campaign, had made a very busy period. World News took the form of a letter from the general secretary of the German Y.W.C.A., giving details of the extremely difficult situation in which Christian youth organisations found themselves at the present time. A reception to Miss Jean Begg was arranged for the end of the month, when all members and friends would have an opportunity of meeting Miss Begg, national general secretary of the Y.W.C.A, of India, Burma and Ceylon.
