Gordon-("Ralph Connor") will conduct the services in First Church .at.ll a.m. The Rev. Allen Stevely will preach in ■ the evening,' the Subject being "The Triumph of Trust." Dr V. K Galway will be the organist. Donations for the " Picriic Fund- should be placed ■jn the i box in the. vestibule. 1 'The cantata "Eastertide" will be sung by the choir of AH Sainte' Church to- ' morrow evening at 6.30. ■ The work, which, will be new to Diinedin, "consists of several choruses, and solos, by Mrs North (soprano), Mrs Mains (contralto), •Mr George Mackay (tenor),, and Mr Bryan Dickenson and Mr Warman (bass). The. organ will be played by Mr A. W. Lilly. At the service,in the Anderson's Bay Presbyterian.. Church to-morrow evening extracts from Sir John Stainer'g cantata " The. Crucifixion" will be rendered by the choir. The tenor solos, " The Agony" and "'King Ever Glorious," will be sung by'Mr Alan Highet. The baritone solo, '. "And as Moses," will be rendered by Mr ; J. Clark. -The duet, "So Thou Liftest Thy Divine Petition," will also be sung. The Easter Anthem from ' Cavalleria Rusticana," with Miss Dorothy Sligo as soloist, is included in the Easter music to be rendered. ■ The Rev. Leslie Ncale will be the preacher at the Methodist Central Mission to-morrow. In the evening Mr Neale will preach on "Why not try a prayer wheel? ". The soloist will be Mrs Nelson Kerr, of Christchurch.; A special musical service will be held at the United Congregational Church tomorrow evening, when Maunder's cantata, "Penitence, Pardon, and Peace" will be presented by the choir, with Mrs D. E. Ewart and Mr J. Galloway as soloists. The subject at the morning service will T>e 'The Pentecostal Quest." The Rev. C. G. Hedley Bycroft will conduct both services. The Rev. C.'H. Olds will preach both morning and evening at Trinity Methodist Church. Stuart street. to-morrow._ His evening subject will be "Life-saving." Mrs J. Stewart (nee Miss Bessie Olds), a member of the Christchurch Harmonic Society, will sing " 0 Divine Redeemer." The anthem will be "Evening and Morning." Selections from " The Messiah " will be rendered at the evening service in the Maori Hill Presbyterian Church to-mor-row. The soloists will be Miss Giles, . Miss Howden. and Mr E. Benton. Mr Charles A. Martin will be at the organ. At the Congregational Church the Rev. Albert Mead will continue the series ot addresses on " The Major Message of the Minor Prophets," the third being on " Micah," at the morning service. In the evening the subject of the address will be " The Ministry of Women." " Lift Thine Eyes," from " Elijah," will be sung by a ladies' trio, the choir will render "God So Loved the World " (Stainer), and Mr Alfred Walmsley will sing "Where're You Walk" (Handel). A social hour will follow the evening service. ,-"''«. , . At the South Duiiedm Presbyterian Church the Rev. R. T. Dodds will conduct both services. At the evening service the choir will sing 'The Passion of Christ" (Somervell), assisted by Miss Lettie de Clifford, Miss Dorothy Allan, Mr J E Davies, and Mr E. T. Ottrey. At the Theosophical Society meeting there will be an address on " The Realm of Mind," by Mrs A. Watson. First Church of Christ. Scientist, will conduct services in Allbell Chambers, 154 Stuart street. The subject for the morning and evening services will be "4re Sin. Disease, and Death Real.' "The Wise Men of the East" is the title of Mr J. M. M'Ewan's address at the Spiritualist Church to-morrow evening After the address Mrs Brooks will eive demonstrations of spiritual clair\-oy-ance. Healins Centre will be held on Thursday evening.
" Crooning" is an accomplishment which has "been taught to canaries in Britain; now these feathered singers are being bred to perform in jazz. The Chinese Government in Nanking has organised the National Educational Film Association, under the Ministry ot Education, to make films of educational value The association has sought a loan from the British Indemnity Fund to finance its operations. It is the view of officials of the association that many educational films of foreign manufacture are unsuitable for showing in China. It is planned to produce pictures of typically Chinese subjects, enacted, before the camera, and Chinese scenic spots will be filmed.
