TARIFFS PREFERRED
MR LLOYD GEORGE'S VIEW IMPORTS FROM DOMINIONS LONDON, April 11. Mr Lloyd George, in an article in the Farmers' Weekly, says that he believes that if British agriculture were properly organised and concentrated on the production of goods for which it is specially fitted, it could hold its own at least as well as the Danish farmers He was not an enthusiastic Protectionist, but, while Britain's policy was Protection, she should employ straightforward tariffs rather than muddle with quotas. The Empire members should receive worth-while preference according to their treatment of Great Britain. Dumping should be stopped, whether Britain adopted Protection or Freetrade.
