MISS JEAN BATTEN
FLIGHT TO ENGLAND ENCOUNTER WITH A HAWK BRISBANE, April 11. Miss Jean Batten arrived at Camooweal and stayed the night there. She hopes to ijeach Darwin to-day. Between Winton and Cloncurry she encountered a thick dust haze, and while she was descending to make a landing a hawk flew directly at the machine. Miss Batten swerved and the hawk passed between the wings without causing any damage.
