By Divot. FIXTURE FOR SATURDAY St. Clair Club.—Opening day. Sidey Cup mixed foursomes. OTAGO CLUB The mixed foursomes competition which marked the official opening of the club season of the Otago Club , attracted a large entry. The weather conditions were all that could be desired, and some good scores were returned. The winning pair w'ere Mrs Arthur Barnett and Colin Glover, the score being all square. As the conditions provided that the match be played against the men’s bogey, this card must be considered as a creditable score. Other good scores were returned by Mrs Dodgshun and H. A. Dodgshun, Mr and Mrs J. A. Scoular, and Mrs E. G. Williams and J. H. M'Dougall, all of whom were one down on bogey and tied for the position of runner-up. There is no fixture on the programme for next Saturday. ST. CLAIR CLUB Under perfect conditions, a big entry competed in the Four-ball Handicap on the Gorstorphine links on Saturday. The winners were H. L. Boock and L. E. Crump, their score being 10 up, a very fine ‘ performance. Crump is a beginner, and played considerably within his handicap, his approximate round being 77, and no doubt be will be honoured with a reduction of his handicap on account of his jfood showing. Two pairs tied for the position of runners-up with scores of eight up, these being J. E. Matheson and W. A. Watt and I. Penrose and W. A. Miteon. OPENING DAY. ST. CLAIR CLUB The annual mixed foursomes for the Sidey Cup, which mark the opening of the St. Clair Club season, will be played on the Gorstorphine links on Saturday, and it is expected that, as usual, there will bo a large attendance of both the Ladies’ and the Men’s clubs. The course is in excellent condition, and if the weather maintains the high standard which has prevailed for many years an enjoyable day can be expected. NEW ZEALAND ASSOCIATION The monthly meeting of the council of the New Zealand Golf Association was held at Wellington on March 4, when there were present. Sir Alexander Roberts (chairman), Messrs A. D. S. Duncan. W. E. A. Gill, J. H. Drake, A. R. Sclanders, and G. 0. Sutton (secretary). The following five clubs, which had duly made application, were elected members of the association: —Havelock North Golf Club, Havelock North, . Hawke’s Bay; Oaro Golf Club, Oaro, Marlborough; Pongakawa Country Golf Club, Te Puke, Bay of Plenty; Remuera _ Golf Club, Remuera, Auckland; Wallingford Golf Club. Waipukurau. The Christchurch Golf Club having approved of the suggested dates for the championship meeting, namely October II to October 19, these were definitely decided upon by the council. _ Applications for the 1936 championship meeting were received from the Napier and Hamilton Golf Clubs which it was resolved to record and deal with in due course. The audited statement of the expenses of the British team’s tour was approved of by the meeting. This had to be redrafted since the last meeting of the council. owing to the fact that two accounts had been paid which had not previously come in and also that the Christchurch Golf Club had refunded the amount which they had deducted from their receipts for gatekeepers and advertising. The final statement shows a loss on the tour of £290 2s 6d. It was decided to send a copy of this statement to each of the clubs which entertained the visiti and to forward an audited copy to Mr A thur Sims in London, who had guaranteed the expenses of the trip, and inform him of the difficulties regarding finance owing to the fact that the season of the year was very unsuitable, and also that Gene Sarazen had just made a tour of New Zealand giving exhibition matches. _ It was further resolved to inform Mr Sims, with reference to his guarantee, that the association is prepared to share the loss equally with him. The secretary • reported that Sir Thomas Wilford had been kind enough to bring out over 20 large copies of a well-known photograph of old Tom Morris of St. Andrews’ and in accordance with Sir Thomas’s wishes these have been distributed amongst certain of the affiliated clubs.

It was reported that a standard scratch score of 66 had been allotted to the Ohura Golf Club and that the score of the Geraldine THstrict Golf Club had been altered to 74.
